Vortex Playground โ steer a swarm, watch it forget
The paper proves global exact controllability and exponential mixing for particle systems interacting
through singular kernels (Coulomb 1/r, Riesz, Yukawa) โ despite chaotic, singular pairwise forces, a small
"control" subset can steer the whole swarm into an arbitrary target formation in finite time, and under noise the
swarm forgets its initial configuration and converges to the same stationary cloud regardless of where it started.
This demo runs a real client-side N-body sim: drag control particles to steer the swarm into shapes (draw a heart,
spell a word), switch kernels to feel Coulomb vs Riesz vs Yukawa behave differently, then flip to mixing mode and
watch a live KL-divergence-to-equilibrium chart tick toward zero as noise erases the swarm's memory of where it
started. Grounded in arXiv:2607.08435. Won a 3-way build-off (35/40 on wow/interactivity/polish/fidelity)
over a diffusing-toys entropy simulator (32/40) and a noise-induced-epidemic side-by-side (32/40) โ the judge
picked it for the richest interaction surface (kernel switch, six target formations, drag-to-steer, live mixing
chart) combined with careful, explicitly-flagged fidelity to what the abstract actually claims.
Startups
- Manski Bounds: Ambiguity-Aware Bet Sizing โ when data underdetermine which model is right, don't pick a winner: compute the partial-identification set (the envelope of predictions consistent with every reasonable spec) and size bets via minimax-regret over that set instead of trusting a single point estimate. Wires directly into SharpLab/nba-modeling โ run each prop through every model variant, only fire a bet when the edge survives across the entire identified set, size it with a conservative Kelly fraction (arXiv:2602.00355).
YouTube
- I Tried to Break the AI Story Narrator โ NCP-Bench shows even the best LLM (GPT-5.2) only has a 42% chance of surviving 20 turns of an interactive narrative without contradicting itself, with fact-conflict rates 40โ68% across models. Video concept: play an interactive story live against 2โ3 models, deliberately trying to trap each one into contradicting an established fact, with a live "commitment survival meter" โ then reveal the real benchmark numbers as the punchline (arXiv:2608.08160).
Projects
- JailMeter-Lite โ the paper's real contribution is a scoring method, not just another benchmark: strip "jailbreak noise" from a model's response while keeping only evidence relevant to the original malicious ask, then require both demonstrated intent AND a complete answer before counting an attack as successful (97.27% agreement with human labels). A small open-source tool: paste in your own red-team (prompt, response) pairs, run the same two-stage evidence-extract โ judge-intent pipeline via the Anthropic API client-side, get a calibrated verdict instead of a grep-for-refusal-strings heuristic (arXiv:2607.19424).
Runner-up demos
- Nursery Entropy Simulator โ a deliberately deadpan toy: "toys" diffuse from a shelf into a play area while a live entropy meter climbs, a "Parent Demon" button lets you drag toys back for a transient ordering episode before entropy resumes its climb โ playing an April Fools "theory of infantile dynamics" paper completely straight (arXiv:2603.29312).
- Outbreak Roulette โ an SVEIS epidemic model perturbed with Black-Karasinski (interest-rate) noise, proving that above a stochastic threshold the disease persists forever and below it dies out โ but crucially, noise can push a disease that would go extinct deterministically into persisting. Two side-by-side panels show the "safe" deterministic line decaying to zero while its noisy twin randomly outbreaks and stabilizes (arXiv:2511.02882).
