Deck-Count Duel โ watch a Q-learning agent train live and race a card counter across shoe sizes
arXiv:2308.07329 trains a reinforcement-learning agent to play blackjack from
scratch and shows the number of decks in the shoe materially changes both how fast the agent
converges to optimal strategy and how much edge a Hi-Lo card counter actually realizes against the
house. This demo runs an actual tabular Q-learning agent (epsilon-greedy, real Bellman updates)
training live in your browser against a genuinely shuffled, depleting shoe, racing a hardcoded
basic-strategy + Hi-Lo true-count betting bot over hundreds of thousands of simulated hands. Drag the
deck-count slider from 1 deck up to 8 (or flip to a continuous-shuffle machine) and watch both the
RL convergence curve and the counter's realized edge shift in real time — the counting edge
runs +0.97% at 1 deck down to -1.13% under CSM, directly reproducing the paper's dilution effect. Won
a 3-way build-off over Volatility Flip and Averageness Slider on wow-factor and
fidelity — it's the most technically ambitious of the three (real Q-learning training live,
not a pre-baked animation) and the most rigorously tested.

- demo โ Volatility Flip (cool 8): 200 simulated bankrolls compound multiplicatively under a favorable/stressful environment toggle and a volatility slider, letting you watch the exact same variance knob flip from harmful to protective depending on the regime — a disguised Kelly-criterion argument computed from real Jensen's-inequality math, validated on algae growth experiments — runner-up in tonight's build-off (arXiv:2511.01905).
- demo โ Averageness Slider (cool 7): procedurally-morphed faces at 21 different interocular-distance ratios, pairwise A/B voting builds a live win-rate histogram that should peak near the average ratio — the other runner-up (arXiv:2602.13368).
- startup โ Prove-you're-clean: zero-knowledge anti-RTA verification (cool 9): a zk-SNARK scheme that proves a poker or chess player's decision-time distribution matches a no-assistance profile without ever revealing the underlying screen or timing trace — "prove innocence without showing your screen" (arXiv:2608.02774).
- project โ Edit Ledger: credit-assignment for betting-model tweaks (cool 7): logs every model-parameter tweak as a parent-child transition against two competing objectives (hit rate vs. CLV/variance), ranking which edits actually helped versus which quietly regressed the other metric (arXiv:2608.23631).
- demo โ Triple-Jointed Escape: Racing Langevin Diffusions Out of a Losing Streak (cool 8): a double-well "stuck in a bad streak" potential races two stochastic-diffusion balls to escape — noise that cascades through a 3-level chain escapes strictly faster than direct noise, despite being "further away" from the thing that's stuck (arXiv:2607.20882).
