Bankroll Truth Serum โ watch "best strategy" flip live as you turn one risk-aversion dial
arXiv:2310.02014 introduces utility-based acceptability indices: certainty-equivalent
performance scores computed under a tunable utility function instead of a flat expected-value or
Sharpe-style ratio. This demo loads four illustrative return streams (steady low-vol, high-vol/high-mean,
fat-left-tail, moderate) as live cumulative bankroll paths, then lets you drag a single CRRA
risk-aversion slider. Every tick recomputes each strategy's real certainty-equivalent growth rate and
re-ranks a leaderboard on the spot — at low risk aversion the high-variance strategy sits at #1 on
raw EV; crank the dial up and it crashes to a negative certainty-equivalent while the steady strategy
takes over. No hardcoded reordering, just the actual CRRA math running in your browser. Won a 3-way
build-off over Order Flow Whisperer and Predictable, You Are Not on the tie-break that
matters most for a demo: the interaction directly *is* the paper's result — one drag, one
legible "aha," no reading two charts together to get the payoff.

- demo โ Order Flow Whisperer (cool 8): the "worst-kept secret" of HFT, that order-book volume imbalance predicts price moves, turns out to be manufactured on purpose — a market maker who knows the true price will optimally quote in a way that produces exactly that imbalance as a side effect of playing well, not as an informational leak. Runner-up in tonight's build-off (arXiv:2307.15599).
- demo โ Predictable, You Are Not (cool 9): a self-balancing sampling rule converges to perfectly even long-run frequencies exactly as fast as naive greedy rebalancing, while staying just as unguessable next-draw as pure i.i.d. randomness — fast convergence and unpredictability aren't actually in tension. The other runner-up (arXiv:2607.20818).
- startup โ Pareto Edge Engine (cool 7): combine a label-efficient self-supervised graph model for wearable emotion/arousal signals with a multi-objective AutoML search (accuracy vs. latency vs. size) to flag real-time fatigue state changes for in-game prop markets — equal parts genius and dystopian (arXiv:2608.22387).
- startup โ Tout Buster (cool 6): a propaganda-technique detector built for disinformation spans turns out to double as a scam-tout scanner for betting picks — naming the exact rhetorical tricks a tout is using (arXiv:2608.22388).
- demo โ Draft Meltdown: How Bad Can a Live Auction Get? (cool 8): provably-good online auction algorithms for budget-constrained welfare maximization can still land as low as ~7% of optimal — a gut-check for anyone who trusts a fantasy-draft or DFS-salary-cap "optimizer" (arXiv:2606.22520).
- youtube โ The Shuffle Theorem: Knot Theory Hiding in Your Card Deck (cool 7): a knot invariant from noncrossing combinatorics secretly counts shuffle structure — a whimsical hook for the perennial "is this shuffle really random" casino-integrity argument (arXiv:2608.06225).
