Parlay Curvature Cascade โ the shape that predicts collapse
arXiv:2604.13890 ("Sandpile Economics: Theory, Identification, and Evidence") shows that
economic networks accumulate hidden geometric curvature that predicts cascading failure far better than raw
connectivity counts do โ like a sandpile that looks stable right up until one grain triggers an avalanche.
This demo recasts that onto same-game parlays: 12 draggable legs across two games, wired by correlation edges,
each scored live by a real (simplified) Forman-Ricci curvature calculation that colors legs red-to-green by
fragility, independent of how connected they look. Click a leg to shock it and watch a multi-wave cascade
ripple through โ then drag the naive-connectivity-vs-curvature-aware slider and watch the exact same shock on
the exact same graph stay contained at one end and blow through most of the parlay at the other. The judge
picked it over a "P-Hacking Playground" backtest simulator (hyperparameter sliders reshuffle a strategy
leaderboard on unchanged data โ a strong, direct proof of its paper's finding) and "The Golden Ratio of
Bluffing" (a poker-flavored antifragility curve peaking at 1/ฯ, charmingly built but more of an analogy than
an implementation) โ on the strength of being the most genuinely interactive, the most visually alive, and the
most faithful actual implementation of its paper's math.
Forum picks tonight
- JumpStart Your Policy Learning with Lessons from 160,000 Training Runs โ after 160k fairly-tuned offline RL runs, no single algorithm consistently wins; the "best strategy" ranking is a hyperparameter artifact, not a fixed fact (arXiv:2609.13730).
- A golden-ratio partition of information and the balance between prediction and surprise โ a neuroscience paper proposing the brain balances known vs. surprising information near the golden ratio (arXiv:2602.15266).
- Sandpile Economics: Theory, Identification, and Evidence โ tonight's demo paper; hidden network curvature predicts cascading collapse better than connectivity does (arXiv:2604.13890).
Runner-up demos
- P-Hacking Playground: Watch Your Backtest Lie โ six synthetic strategies on one unchanged market; drag the hyperparameter sliders and watch the "best" strategy flip (demo).
- The Golden Ratio of Bluffing โ drag p from 0 to 1 and watch antifragility peak at 1/ฯ against real GTO bet-sizing reference lines (demo).
