Lee–Yang Zero Tracker

grounded in arXiv:2606.08004 — "Tracking metastable phases by complex Lee–Yang zeros" · finite Ising chain, exact partition-function zeros
For a finite spin chain, the partition function Z(z) is an exact polynomial in the complex fugacity z = e2βh. Its complex roots — the Lee–Yang zeros — encode the physics: for the pure ferromagnetic chain they sit exactly on the unit circle (Lee–Yang circle theorem, verified below), and a true phase transition would require a zero to pinch the positive real axis as N→∞. This toy chain has one "defect" bond (coupling ratio drive = Jdefect/J) whose strength you control: away from the pure ferromagnet (drive = 1) it drags an island of zeros off the circle. Watch how close that island gets to the real axis — for a finite, metastable system it approaches but never truly touches, exactly the "readable off the real axis" signal the paper tracks.
