Watch the fractal amplitude lock to the dimension — a live diffusion-limited-aggregation simulator with an on-the-fly multifractal readout.
Grounded in
“Exact amplitude relations for diffusion-limited aggregation” — Thomas C. Halsey,
arXiv:2607.02216.
The paper's abstract: it has long been known that the third moment of the multifractal spectrum of a
DLA cluster's harmonic measure is
linked to the cluster's fractal dimension. Using the
Hastings–Levitov formulation of 2D DLA, Halsey shows a stronger statement: the
universal amplitude
of that third moment is exactly tied to the fractal dimension — for both ordinary circular DLA and DLA
grown on a cylinder (periodic boundary conditions).
This demo estimates both quantities live from a browser-scale lattice simulation
(box-counting for D, a windowed growth-probability histogram as a harmonic-measure proxy for the third
moment). It is a fast illustrative approximation of the mechanism the paper proves exactly, not a
reproduction of the paper's numerics.
