πŸƒ Patch Forager β€” Stay or Leave the Table

A hidden-quality foraging game, run head-to-head against a reward-maximizer and an info-seeker.
Grounded in β€œResource depletion accelerates rate learning but not composition learning in patch foraging” (Zachary P. Kilpatrick & Ahmed El Hady, arXiv:2607.29476). The paper's Bayesian foraging model finds that within a patch, depletion makes rate learning fast β€” "successive encounters occur at falling rates whose spacing pins down the initial rate." But learning the composition of the environment (what fraction of patches are actually rich) is "set by the number of patches sampled rather than the time spent in each," and reward-maximizing foragers underharvest rich patches relative to what's needed to learn that β€” because gathering composition data means staying past the point where leaving already looks locally optimal. This demo puts you, a pure reward-maximizer (MVT ghost), and an explicit info-seeker (ghost) through the same sequence of hidden-quality patches, then scores not just who earned more, but who actually learned what the patches contained.
