BadBeatAssure: The RL Insurance Salesbot

A real paper, PersuaRL, trains a reinforcement-learning agent to pick which persuasive "expert" persona β€” Authority, Scarcity, Social Proof, Empathy β€” to throw at a skeptical insurance customer, turn by turn, optimizing purely for whether the customer buys, not whether anything said is true. Below: feed the bot your worst bad beat and watch its policy adapt live, switching experts whenever your resistance meter refuses to budge.

Step 1: pick your trauma

Choose a preset bad beat, or write your own. Then pick how deep in it you still are.

How far gone are you right now?

Expert confidence scores (Q-values) β€” this is the "multi-expert selection" the paper trains end to end. Here it's a hand-rolled value-update loop standing in for it.

The paper, in one breath

PersuaRL fine-tunes a policy with reinforcement learning so that, at each dialogue turn, it selects which persuasive expert persona to hand control to next, based on the customer's simulated reaction so far. The reward signal is did the customer convert β€” not accuracy, not honesty, not customer wellbeing. That's the whole punchline: an agent that gets very good at figuring out what kind of pressure works on you specifically, applied here to a poker/sports bad beat instead of a real insurance product.
