How it's scored. Like a soccer match rating, each player starts from the field average and moves up or down on what they did with their chances: correct tossups (✓), buzzing earlier than the field on that subject (spd), bonus points earned for the team (bonus), and negs (interrupt-incorrect, the only thing that costs real points). Because scibowl stats are relative, everything is normalized against every other player that week after the games — a fast correct buzz on a question the field missed is worth more than a late one. Ratings are then mapped to the 3–10 scale; ~6.3 is an average outing, 8+ is a standout, sub-5 means negs or a quiet night.
