For every offense we simulate the scoring it should have produced given the exact personnel that dressed and each side's zone strength, then compare to what it actually put up. Positive = overperformed (moved the ball more than the matchup implied); negative = underperformed. This week it's the cleanest way to see who earned the separation.

A 19-point statement. James W was +5.0 over xPts (15 scores vs 10.0), and it was built on a Screen game 4โ0 whitewash that czz had no answer for. akhil paced it with 8 scoring plays (4 TDs) โ volume with a little cost, three turnovers of his own โ in the West's loudest win of the week.
czz's half is ugly. A co-leader of the West came in and put up 6 scores against an 8.8 expectation (โ2.8), converted 4 of 6 red-zone trips (67%) โ the best rate on the field โ and it meant nothing next to six turnovers. Efficiency without volume is noise; the depth-and-ugly-wins team got exposed by a side that simply moved the ball more.
The closest game of the week. sumin was par-plus (10 vs 9.7, +0.3), leaned on a 70% red-zone night (7/10) and a Special-Teams 3โ1 edge, and got just enough from Lucas W (5 scoring plays) to survive. It won as the favorite but the margin was two โ the right side, no cover.
Fez actually out-executed it in the ways that predict the future: +1.6 over xPts and just one turnover to sumin's three, with a Screen 3โ1 and an Advik S breakout (4 scoring plays, the top mark of his season). Losing a 2-point war while beating your number is the profile of a team about to start winning them. Arrow up.
The cleanest line of the week in the game that mattered most. mingle/Yunyi won a division game at just 38% red-zone conversion โ and did it anyway because it put up 13 scoring plays against an 8.0 expectation (+5.0) with ZERO turnovers, headlined by a Ground 4โ0 sweep. roshan (5 scoring plays, 0 turnovers, fastest tempo of any top scorer) set the tempo. Volume beats efficiency every time it's asked to.
Gid was the favorite and had the more efficient night โ 60% red zone, a Deep-ball 3โ0 sweep, right on its number (10 vs 9.6, +0.4) โ and still lost. When you get swept 4โ0 in a single zone by a team playing turnover-free, three-plus scores in one group won't save you. Monish S (3 scoring plays) led, but talent without a close-out cost Gid a game it was favored in.
The lowest-scoring game of the week (42 total points), and it was a dead heat everywhere except the takeaway column. Both offenses were slightly over xPts: (Stitch)ยฒ at 9 vs 8.4 (+0.6), jonathan at 9 vs 8.9 (+0.1). jonathan matched Stitch on scoring plays (9โ9) and red-zone rate (56%โ56%) โ this was an even game on every efficiency measure. pancreas uvula was Stitch's top scorer in a low-volume grind.
What separated them was ball security. jonathan gave it back six times to Stitch's two, and in a game where points were this scarce, that four-turnover gap was the entire six-point margin. edwin h and kensuke o carried what little offense jonathan had, but the West cellar handed the game away at the buzzer.
The season's worst line, and its worst beating. The books favored Connor Chang by 2; cryo won by 29. cryo was +6.5 over xPts (15 scores vs 8.5), swept the deep ball 3โ0 and the short pass 2โ0, and suzuko โ he had 5 scoring plays โ led a balanced demolition. When a team beats its number by six-plus scores, the board never had a chance.
Connor's half is an availability story told in one number: 1 of 6 red-zone trips (17%). A short lineup put up 6 scores against a 10.0 expectation (โ4.0), got swept in the deep ball, short pass and special teams, and never threatened. dannyridel (3 scoring plays) was the only pulse. The books priced Kian D's ceiling; the roster that dressed priced reality. The availability lever, again.
The books' other miss. xpoes won at just 38% red zone and did it on volume anyway โ 13 scoring plays against an 8.6 expectation (+4.4), headlined by a Short-pass 3โ0 sweep and a Screen edge. Rohan G put up a team-high 6 scoring plays (3 TDs) โ the ghost-roster act that has cost xpoes all season, this time on the winning side of it at last.
anurag was the favorite and came up empty. The Seanjay squad put up 8 scores against a 9.2 expectation (โ1.2), laid an egg as a chalk pick and lost outright โ the East's contribution to the model's worst week. Sean (4 scoring plays) led what offense there was, but a favorite that comes in under its number and gives the game away is exactly the profile the board got cooked on twice this week.
All 14 teams after Week 5, both conferences. Records first, but the takes lean on xPts โ who's really as good as their result. Two teams sat a bye week (dan.k.memes, ChessFun) โ no new mark, ranked on merit.
