The result that cooked the model. cryo was untouchable: 15 buzzes against an xGets of 8.5 (+6.5), the biggest overperformance of the week, with a Physics 3–0 sweep and a Chemistry 2–0 anchoring the demolition. suzuko paced it with 5 gets, and cryo cleared 60% bonus (9/15) for good measure. This is the West's new class, stated in three digits.
The model had laid Connor Chang −9 — favored on the ceiling of Kian D — and Connor lost by 108. A short lineup converted 1 of 6 bonuses (17%), managed just 6 gets on a 10.0 expectation (−4.0), and got zeroed in Physics against cryo's sweep. dannyridel's 3 gets were the whole offense. The line priced a star; availability priced reality. It is the season's worst miss, and the availability lever explains all of it.
A one-point line, a 70-point result. James W overperformed at 15 vs 10.0 (+5.0) and won it in a single zone: a Computer Science 4–0 whitewash that czz never got a buzz in. akhil paced the field with 8 gets, and the scariest ceiling in the West cashed the tiny number into a massive cover.
czz's afternoon is a warning label for the bonus-worshippers: it converted a gaudy 67% (4/6) and still got blasted by 70, because it only bought 6 gets against an 8.8 expectation (−2.8) and negged six times. Efficiency on no volume is a rounding error. Achuth's 2 gets led a lineup that co-leads the West on record and just got exposed on the floor.
The cleanest illustration of the week's throughline. mingle/Yunyi won at just 38% bonus (5/13) — and won by 10 — because it out-bought everyone: 13 gets against an 8.0 expectation (+5.0) with zero negs, headlined by a Biology 0–4 sweep that Gid could not answer. roshan (5 gets, no negs, fastest buzz of any top scorer) set the tempo. This is the East's new class, and it's doing it at sub-40% conversion.
Gid was favored by a point and lost the division game. It landed right on its number (10 vs 9.6, +0.4) and even swept Physics 3–0, but the Bio whitewash against it was fatal and there was no closing gear — Monish S's 3 gets topped a night with the talent but not the finish. That's a fifth loss (2–3) built, again, on losing the buzzer race in one room.
The closest game of the week, and a right-side-no-cover for the model. sumin was laid −11 and survived by 2, winning the efficiency battle it had to: a 70% bonus night (7/10) and an Earth/Space 3–1 edge on dead-even volume (10 vs 9.7, +0.3). Lucas W (5 gets) was the steadying hand. The most complete East team, but it needed every point.
Fez_Keyreb lost, but this is an arrow-up loss. It matched sumin buzz-for-buzz — 10 gets against an 8.4 expectation (+1.6) — and did it with the cleanest card of the day, a single neg, on the back of an Advik S breakout (4 gets). A team that's 1–3 on paper is buzzing like a playoff side; the discipline is already there, the bonus stroke is one night from catching up.
The lowest-scoring game of the week (140 total points), merged upstream into one 78–62 line. On the surface it was dead even: (Stitch)² and jonathan tied on gets (9–9) and on bonus (56%–56%), and both actually finished slightly OVER their xGets — Stitch 9 vs 8.4 (+0.6), jonathan 9 vs 8.9 (+0.1). When two sides buzz and convert at the same rate, the game is decided by who doesn't give points back.
jonathan gave them back. Its 6 negs — against Stitch's 2 — were the entire 16-point margin in a grind that was otherwise a coin flip. pancreas uvula (4 gets) was the top scorer for Stitch; edwin h led a jonathan side that negged its way out of a winnable game. The packet ran hot on dead tossups (5 of 23 went unanswered, the week's highest but a normal rate), and Stitch covered the −3 — though the −168 differential and low volume say this climb is fragile, not a breakout.
The model's other double-digit chalk went the same way. xpoes won it the way mingle did: out-buying at low conversion — 13 gets against an 8.6 expectation (+4.4) at just 38% bonus (5/13). Rohan G's ghost-roster act — 6 gets, team-high — finally landed on the winning side of the ledger, and xpoes cashed one at last to move to 2–3.
anurag was laid −13 and lost by 18 — a 31-point swing against the number. It came in under its own xGets (8 vs 9.2, −1.2), got swept in Chemistry 0–3, and never found the volume gear a favorite needs. Sean's 4 gets led the effort, but a full-strength xpoes showing up was the whole story — the East's contribution to the model's worst week.
